The Princess Bride Special Event – Sat Apr 9, 4PM – Westport Town Hall

How we wish that our lives had the glamor and romance of an old-fashioned fairy tale – with a happy ending, of course. But if we can’t get the real thing, at least, we can enjoy it vicariously through that delightful, classic movie “The Princess Bride,” being shown at Westport Town Hall on Saturday afternoon, April 9. It is the latest in the ongoing programs offered by Westport Cinema Initiative.

The 1987 favorite’s star-studded cast includes  Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Peter Falk, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane and Peter Cook – all of whom seem to be enjoying themselves equally as much as the princess, played by Robin Wright.

The post-screening talkback will be led by Chris Sarandon, who starred in the movie as Prince Humperdinck – a role that catapulted him to a long and successful career. Born and raised in West Virginia, he was drawn to the stage from early on, majoring in theater at Catholic University of America in DC, before beginning his career in the 1960’s. He has been nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a New York Film Critics Circle Award, appearing on and off Broadway as well as dozens of movies.

The film starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Westport Town Hall, Myrtle Avenue, Westport. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door or online.
